I don’t know what’s going on, so I’m having a great time.

Everyone that I spoke to before coming to Cyprus had one question for me. “Are you nervous,” every one of them asked. I always told them that no I wasn’tImage nervous at all, but that was kind of a lie. I was nervous going to Cyprus. It’s a foreign country that is not England or Australia, it truly is a foreign country.  Getting to the country was a ridiculous ordeal, but that’s another story that is really not that interesting. Suffice it to say, I spent a lot of time in the Frankfurt Airport due to a mechanical. However, we got to Cyprus and my first impressions are mixed, there’s a lot to love and a lot that takes some getting used to.

As far as things that I love, the food is the best thing on earth. Honestly the restaurants around our apartments are amazing. The best is the Good Food Company, the owner is British and they have the best wraps and burgers in the world. Also, the 24 hour bakery, Zorpa’s, is by far the greatest thing since sliced bread. Yes, the pun was intended. My roommates are amazing as well, I wouldn’t be having as great of a time without Andrew, Floyd, and David.

Okay, so there are a few things that aren’t bad, per say, but just have taken a lot of time to get used to. Not having my iPhone has been difficult. Having to constantly bounce from place to place with wifi in order to talk to my friends from home has been difficult. Also, the lack of television that has been amazingly difficult. I didn’t think it would be that difficult, but man I didn’t realize how often I like TV in the background. Other than those two things, it has been nice, a great change of pace for me from the fast paced American life.

Cyprus is an amazingly diverse country that is an incredibly confusing place to visit and live in. Traffic is a mess, people stare a lot at us, the heat is unbearable, but through all that, I love the place. I wouldn’t change anything about this trip.
